We’ve all been to Restaurants and have had some fine dining experience but we have found some very rare and ingenious restaurants that are built on some out of the box ideas and concepts and how! Lets check it out..

1. The Modern Toilet

Modern-Toilet-Taiwan

The idea for this odd restaurant was conceived by one of the owners while he was reading while sitting—where else?—on a toilet. Initially it only sold chocolate ice cream in containers shaped like a squat toilet, but once the humorous spin began it  became a great success, a full-fledged, bathroom-themed eatery emerged. Today, Modern Toilet is a chain with locations across Asia and it has plans for further expansion. If the idea piques your curiosity, drop in to have a seat at one of the (non-working) toilets where meals are served in toilet bowl-shaped dinnerware.

2. Dinner In The Sky

Got an appetite for high altitude? Originating in Belgium, the concept involves a crane hoisting guests, who are securely strapped into “dining chairs” 160 feet up in the air, along with a table, wait staff, and everything that’s required to enjoy a meal floating above the ground. The novelty-based mobile restaurant has gained popularity worldwide and is now offered for limited run periods in cities around the globe, including Montreal.

3. Ithaa Undersea Restaurant

ithaa-undersea

Located at the Conrad Maldives, Rangali Island Resort is a gorgeous and intimate underwater restaurant (seating capacity is 14 people) that is more than sixteen feet below sea level. Opened in 2005, the all-glass restaurant has a menu consisting of fresh seafood, beef rib eye, veal, and other gourmet dishes. Encased in a transparent acrylic roof, the restaurant offers its diners a 270-degree panoramic view of sea creatures swimming in the Maldives’ crystal clear waters. While a zinc paint coating protects Ithaa’s steel structure from corrosion, the saltwater and marine growths adhering to the paint will eventually break it down. Make a reservation while you still can.

4. Cabbages And Condoms

cabbages-condomsAs dining out can be dangerous, play it safe at Cabbages and Condoms, where the grub’s “guaranteed not to cause pregnancy” — although whether it’ll help induce it is anybody’s guess. Expect condom-themed décor (like flowers with Trojan petals), and a wait staff who may or may not be donning inflated condoms… on their heads. Also, in lieu of after-dinner mints, you’re invited to take a condom. Because nothing says dinnertime quite like a side of latex.

5. Disaster Cafe

Because what’s better than partaking of a lovely meal whilst experiencing a simulated earthquake? Probably a lot, but that’s what you get at Disaster Cafe — Spanish red and a 7.8 on the Richter Scale.

6. Dining In The Dark

The ‘Opaque’ restaurants, founded on a concept popularised in Europe and migrated to America, allow patrons to dine in complete darkness. The above picture is a false color infrared flashed time exposure image. Here, guests are served their three-course gourmet meal by blind waiters. It replicates for sighted people, the experience of sightlessness. The waiters are able to navigate the total darkness while diners say they often miss their mouths, in an unsettling and intense immersion. The bright idea is that shutting off the dominant sense of sight will elevate the other senses and enhance the appreciation of the meal. Either that, or the restaurateurs were too cheap to hire an interior designer.

7. The Airplane Restaurant

Mile-high meals. Onboard this grounded 1953 Boeing KC-97 tanker, diners feast on atypical airline food like the Reuben von Crashed — tender corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing served on fresh marble rye bread.

8. Lainio Snow Village

lainio

Lainio Snow Village is located in Western part of Finnish Lapland, close to Yllas and Levi ski-resorts. It is located 28 km from Kittilä airport. Check more information at Snow Village and discover all what the snow village has to offer.

9. DS Music Restaurant

ds-music

Located in Taipei, DS Music Restaurant is a hospital-themed eatery, opened by the owner in an expression of enthusiasm for the care he received at a hospital for his liver disorder. Catering to diners with a taste for the quirky, DS Music Restaurant featuring hospital bed frames as tables, hanging crutches on the walls, hospital drips hanging above each table, as well as a wheel chair parked in the lobby. The toilet is also creatively marked with a sign stating ’emergency room’. All these are complemented by the waitresses and waiters all dressed up as nurses and doctors, complete with name tags. This is a good restaurant to experience nightlife, with a delightful menu with alcoholic drinks and a pleasant atmosphere that is night-lifely yet not overwhelming.

10. Villa Escudero Resort

villa-escudero

Waterfalls are some of the most majestic and mysterious sites in the world, but getting close can not only be difficult, but also dangerous. The Villa Escudero Resort of San Pablo City in the Philippines offers a one of a kind experience for guests to get up close and personal with a roaring waterfall while enjoying their lunch! Their waterfall restaurant sits at the foot of the Labasin falls where guests can enjoy local cuisine at handmade bamboo tables while clear spring water runs over their feet. The falls are so people friendly, guests can even lie against the rushing water covered wall for quick massage or post-lunch rinse off. This is one resort where no shirt and no shoes are no problem!

Happy Dining!
