But recently, IE has taken a backseat as many new quircky internet browsers have been launched, our special mention to Google Chrome which has maintained its steady market for almost 2 years since its launch. And why not? There are some awesome google chrome features that you probably didn’t know of apart from being an overall cool browser.
1. The Offline Dinosaur Game
Google chrome is one such brilliant browser that offers you to play a really cool dinosaur game for when the internet goes off or you’re not connected to any network. Whenever you come across a window saying “Unable to connect to Internet” just hit space-bar to start off the cute dinosaur on its hunt.
2. Use Chrome Search bar as a unit converter
Did you know? You can simply type in any valur of any unit in the Google chrome search bar and use it to convert it into any unit. You will get the result right there in the address bar.
3. The same bar as a calculator
It doesn’t end there. You can also use the same search bar as a calculator. Just type in the values with the operating signs and voila! You’ll have the result right there in the address bar.
4. It has a paste and search option
Chrome also has this amazing time and hassle-saving feature that lets you search a particular url without typing it over again. Just right click and find the ‘paste and search’ option.
5. Google Chrome lets you use its own Task Manager
The task manager offered by google chrome is very handy and useful especially if you want to save on memory and know what tabs you have been working on. Just right click on the tabs bar and find ‘Task Manager’. You can view all the tabs opened by you and even the memory being consumed by the various tasks.
6. You can open a 100 tabs on Chrome
Wow! Now thats one for a multitasker. Chrome lets you open and work on a 100 tabs at a time. Also it shows a cute smiley face instead of the number of tabs. 😀
7. You can also play MP3 file and movie directly on Chrome.
All you gotto do is drag the mp3 file to the browser and it shall obediently play your file.
8. You can use it as a Notepad
If there’s ever a situation that you have to note down an important address or a number immediately, well, don’t go running around to look for pen and paper. Just open a tab in chrome and type data:text/html, <html contenteditable> and you will have a notepad opened up.
9. Lock your Google Chrome with an in-built password
Yes! You can even lock your browser with a password so that you’re friends won’t go on to open up your facebook id when your passwords saved in the browser. All you need to do is:
- Open this link in a new tab- chrome://flags/#enable-password-generation
- Click on option ‘enable new profile management’
- Click on the ‘Enable’ link
- Click on the ‘Relaunch Button’
10. You can even Tilt your Chrome window
