Another incident in Chennai Proved that Humanity and values in relationships are dying with time. In Such an Incident, 40 years old D Amarnath Prasad resident of Arumbakkam was arrested by Chennai police for allegedly killing his 60-year-old mother. He mercilessly tied his mother to a chair and set her ablaze just because she did not find him a bride and get him married. The Arumbakkam police arrested Prasad, who worked as a cab driver, and charged him with murder. An investigating officer said Prasad, an alcoholic, often returned home late in the night and quarreled with his mother. Sasikala, immobilized by a leg injury, could only hobble to a chair and back to her bed.
Sasikala lived with her son Prasad and her younger sister. Neighbors said they heard Prasad shouting at his mother on Saturday night. Neighbors first heard the woman cry out for help at 5.30 am. They rushed to her rescue and found her tied to a plastic chair. She had severe burn injuries.They called an ambulance, which rushed her to the Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) where doctors said she sustained 70% burn injuries. Sasikala died around Sunday noon.
