The American beverages leader and established brand Coca-Cola is planning to set up its production unit in Sri Lanka in order to fulfill the high demand of the Indian market. This was confirmed the Sri Lankan finance ministry on Monday.

This plan of Coca-Cola to open its unit in Sri Lanka was revealed during the country visit of its Asia Pacific chiefs. The Indian market has the highest demand for Coca-Cola products consumption in the whole South Asian region. Coca-Cola the Atlanta-based company has a comprehensive range of sub-products including Sprite, Thumbs Up, Limca, Maaza, Fanta, Minute Maid and packaged water and Kinley soda.

As per the reports by Indian Beverage Association, constituted by firms with direct and allied interests in the non-alcoholic beverage industry, Indian Beverage market is said to be worth $5 billion.
