Technology has revolutionised the world in thousand ways. From countrysides to the top developed cities, technology has always influenced the lives of people. Many elders and people have criticized technology that it only harms people but that’s not true. Inventions like air bags and fire alarms have helped the human security a lot and have saved the lives of people countless times. Now, something very helpful only, engineers have invented a new wall structure which can save a country from the dangers of a flood. This construction has already been tested in the city of Grein, Austria which was too much threatened by the overflowing waters of the river Danube.
The mobile flood walls can protect a specific area from the dangers of a flood. If they would have been introduced a little earlier then the Uttarakhand tragedy might have been saved. Their structure is so beneficial because they can be used in any kind of flood-related emergency and in a very short period of time.
A UK based flood resolution company, solved the people’s confusion when they answered how the walls work, “The system is based on an underground wall, protecting an area against groundwater that rises simultaneously with the level of flood waters. The depth of the underground wall is based on a bedrock and subsequently determines the height of the barrier”.
The wall structure was completed in Grein in 2013 and since that time, it has helped the city in protecting against many flood conditions. The underground wall is supported by concrete and elaborate mechanized wall fittings which can control water.
Currently, this technology is new to many places of the world and is still in a developing state but in future, this technology is hopeful to be very helpful and preventative against floods.
