Remember those days when you were extremely tired and couldn’t sleep adequately at night because you had to wake up multiple times to pee? We all got that solution on. A good night’s sleep always make you feel rested and refreshed in the morning. However, when you have the frequent charge to use the washroom at night, a good night’s sleep can turn into a real bad one. If you find yourself waking up to urinate more than twice each night, you may have a condition called Nocturia. Here, er are up with some of the reasons that lead you to wake up in the middle of the night to pee –
Congestive Heart Failure
Fluid accumulates in the legs during the day due to gravity and the heart’s inability to pump normally. Thus when we lie down, this fluid, reenters the bloodstream and causes an increase in urine production.
A rise in the levels of glucose in the kidneys can draw more fluid into the urine at night. This can result in disturbing nighttime urination.
Alcohol and Caffeine
Late night ingestion of either alcohol or caffeine can cause nocturia that breaks sleep. They both can induce a diuresis which can wake you up quite a few times.
