It’s really a very sad news for all the hockey fans that the legendary hockey player Mohammed Shahid is currently struggling for his life in a Gurgaon hospital. He has been diagnosed with severe malfunctioning of liver and was flown from Varanasi on Wednesday.
Reports Also Say That Mohammed Shahid Was Actually Unwell Since The Beginning Of This Year But His Condition Worsened Just A Few Days Ago
This is what Mohammed Said, the only son of Shahid, has said about his father’s condition, “There’s a huge problem with his liver and kidneys. We can’t say much at this stage. He wasn’t keeping well for last four or five months but we never thought it will be so serious. He complained of severe stomach ache and things went from bad to worse. There were rumours that he has dengue too but this is not true. I make an appeal to all of his fans to please pray for him.”
“I am really pained to see him in this state. To see such an iconic player suffering so much is extremely unfortunate,” said Zafar Iqbal, former captain of the International Indian hockey team.
The last time when India scored a gold in Olympics was 36 years ago in Moscow where Mohammed Shahid played a huge role in getting India that victory and scoring a place for himself in the history of Indian hockey.
Mohammed Shahid was born on 14 April 1960 in the state of Uttar Pradesh and made the whole country proud when he won the gold medal in those Olympics. Along with his that achievement, he also won a silver in the 1982 Asian Games and bronze at the 1986 Asian Games. Moreover, Shahid also played for the Asian All-Star team in the year 2016 and captained the Indian hockey team during 1985-1986.
Mohammad Shahid is still in a very bad condition in the ICU but the whole country is supporting him along with the whole hockey fraternity.
