Acclaimed singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan faced quite a lot of embarrassment on Thursday morning when he landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad and was immediately deported back to abu dhabi as he was barred entry. The singer was visiting the city to Perform at a New Year Eve Event at the Iconic Taj Falaknuma Palace.
Immigration authorities at the RGI attributed Rahat’s deportation to Technical Flaws only because as per rules Pakistani nationals cannot enter India through Hyderabad as the only legal ports to enter India are through are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
“That’s why the singer was asked to return to Abu Dhabi and travel to the city through the valid entry points,” the official said. However Immigrations officials refrained from confirming the same and said, “There was a technical issue with his documentation and he was deported to Abu Dhabi on the same flight,”
Incidentally or ironically, the sufi music event at the Falaknuma Palace was designed to promote harmony throught Hyderabad’s heritage and culture.
