Cricket is the sports religion of India. While most sports fans were busy with watching which team gets which player for the team for India, Bidyalukshmi and Shaikom Mirabai Chanu performed for India in the South Asian Games.
Bidyalukshmi won a gold in cycling while Chanu topped the 48kg category in weightlifting. Both athletes hail from the North Eastern states of India.
The second day of the South Asian Games was fruitful for Indians as they won 23 gold medals to take their gold tally to 27. Overall India have 42 medals. Sri Lanka are second with 37 medals.
It’s definitely a applause worthy performance by the Indian Contingent.
India had won 19 medals on the opening day which included four gold and four silver.
