Arun Jaitely , Finance minister recently in an interview to PTI said that he looked back on the year with great satisfaction,during which economic fundamentals remained very sound throughout the year.However he also underlined the top priorities of the Indian government in 2016.
According to him , passage of goods and services tax (GST) is of the top most priority.It is to be noted that GST bill has been stalled by the opposition . In both the monsoon and winter session of parliament the bill failed to take off. “We need to bring our direct taxes at par with what is happening elsewhere in the world… I had hoped that we complete the process of GST this year,” Jaitley said
The second priority will be making business easy to do in India.Currently India’s ranks at 130th number at the ease of doing business, which is still better than previous years.Modi governement plans on introducing certain measure which will make it easier to do business in India.
