In the most controversial allegation, the opposition Congress which is supported by Trinamool Congress and the Janata Dal (United) has alleged that the Reserve Bank Of India is printing the 2 types of 500 rupee notes. The opposition called it as the “Biggest Scam of the Century.”
According to the NDTV, Congress leader Kapil Sibal, waving a placard with the two notes has raised a questioned in the parliament, “Today we have discovered why the government took the demonetisation decision. The RBI prints two types of currency notes. These are of different size and different design… how is it possible?”
Meanwhile, Ghulam Nabi Azad alleged that “We never printed two kinds of notes, one for the party and one for the government – there are two kinds of Rs. 500 notes and two kinds of Rs. 2,000 notes.”
Also, JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav has sided with the opposition parties in an attempt to corner the government over the alleged printing of new 500 rupee notes in different sizes.
On the other hand, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said: “There is no such provision where you flag any paper and say it’s a Point of Order….irresponsible remarks are being made about the currency… Zero Hour is being misused.”
