Distressed over his death, a mob of youths took laws into their own hands. And on the basis of suspicion of the murder of the boy, they caught a Dalit woman. They thrashed her, beaten up her brutally and made her parade all naked on the streets of Arrah. They had torn down her clothes and crossed all the limits.

20 men were found accused in this shameful act. Now, recently, Bihar court awarded seven-year prison term to five people convicted of assaulting and parading a Dalit woman naked while fifteen other accused were sentenced to two years in prison. All the 20 convicts have been held guilty under the SC/ST Act.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Ramesh Chandra Dwivedi also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each to five people convicted for seven-year and the rest 15 would have to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 each.

Bihar deputy CM Sushil Kumar looks quite happy with the judiciary of the state for the prompt action and says,

“It is a fresh example of the high benchmark of rule of law set by the NDA government. All the guilty have been punished within 100 days. But those beating their chests on law and order remain oblivious to the long arms of law“.
