E-commerce Giant Flipkart Internet has had over 23 employees take home more than Rs. 1 crore as annual salary last year. The consumer facing arm in e-commerce is now one of the new age business fronts who pay exceptionally well to attract talent especially at the senior level.


According flipkart’s filing with the registrar theirr employee benefit expenses have swelled over three-fourths to 476 crore which is even more than the salaries of top chief executives such Hindustan Unilever’s Sanjiv Mehta and ITC Chairman YC Deveshwar.

As per reports, Flipkart Internet’s Mekin Maheshwari received Rs 18.73 crore during 2014-15. Flipkart Internet’s hefty packages prove that they need to retain the pool of talent at their end which is why they need to be paying well.


However, despite fat packages, Flipkart Internet still lags behind when compared with other giants like Hindustan Unilever, Infosys, Wipro, etc where more than 50 employees draw 8-digit salaries.

All we can say is while traditional companies have set standards and reached a certain benchmark, other players are continuously trying to prove their mettle in the hyper-competitive environment.
