BANGKOK — In a very disturbing incident in a Buddhist temple that operated as admission-charging zoo near about 40 tiger cubs were found dead, official said.

Monks here were accused of involving in illegal breeding and trafficking of the animals. Soon the authorities were removing fully-grown live tigers from the temple in western Kanchanaburi province.

Abusorn Noochdumrong, an official from the Department of National Parks who is associated with the transfer of temple tigers disclosed that cubs were found in freezer where the temple staff used to keep its eatables.

“We don’t know why the temple decided to keep these cubs in the freezer,” Anusorn said. “We will collect these carcasses for DNA analysis.”
