Chris Morris
Former South African all-rounder Chris Morris is the highest paid player in the IPL auction. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021 for Rs 16.25 crore. Rajasthan had picked Morris for his all-rounder ability, but he could not do much for the entire season. He took 15 wickets in 11 matches at an economy of 9.17 and scored only 67 runs at an average of 13.40.
Yuvraj Singh
Former veteran all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was roped in by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2015 by making a strong bid. Yuvraj then got Rs 16 crore. He played 14 matches in the season and scored 248 runs at an average of 19.07. Apart from this, Yuvraj also took 6 wickets. Yuvraj was bought by RCB in 2014 for 14 crores.
Pat Cummins
Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins was the highest bidder in the IPL 2020 auction. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spent Rs 15.5 crore to include him in their camp. However, Cummins could take only 12 wickets in 14 matches at an economy of 7.86. Batting down the order, he added 146 runs, including a half-century.
Gautam Gambhir
Former India opener Gautam Gambhir was the costliest player in the IPL 2011 auction. Gambhir, who played for Delhi till 2010, was bought by Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s IPL team KKR for Rs 14.9 crore. In his first season with KKR, Gambhir scored 378 runs in 15 matches at an average of 34.36.
Ben Stokes
England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes was the highest bidder in the IPL 2017 auction. He was then roped in by Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) for Rs 14.5 crore. His base price was 2 crores. Stokes scored 316 runs at an average of 31.60 in his first season in the IPL, including an unbeaten century. Apart from this, he took 12 wickets in his bag.
