The eleventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to mesmerize you with another exciting cricketing season. The opening ceremony of IPL11 will be held on 7th April but sadly, 6 IPL team captains will not attend it. Virat Kohli, David Warner, Steve Smith, Dinesh Karthik, R Ashwin and Gautam Gambhir will not be able to register their presence due to following reason.
Actually, 2 matches have been scheduled on the 8th of April i.e. Delhi Daredevils V/S Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore V/S Kolkata Knight Riders.
In a statement, BCCI officials said: “IPL team should have done their homework. They are calling Gautam Gambhir and Ravichandran Ashwin a day before an afternoon match. That’s absolute lack of homework.”
In simple words, if any of these captains attend the ceremony, it would be difficult for them to travel to their respective cities. It would be damn tiring for them.
The acting president, CK Khanna said: “We are aware that there are some logistical issues that have cropped up. It will be sorted at the earliest. I think captains will be called a day earlier and their portion will be shot and shown during the opening ceremony.”
