In Sonbhadra district of eastern Uttar Pradesh, 7 coaches of the Howrah-Jabalpur-Shaktipunj Express derailed today with no injuries reported. This is the third such derailment in UP in less than a month and fourth one in 22 days in the country.

Railway ministry spokesperson Anil Saxena said:
“The accident occurred at around 6:25 AM and we have already cleared out the site.”
All the passengers were put on the remaining coaches and by 7:28 AM all of them had left the spot. Fortunately, all of them are safe. The train was travelling at a speed of about 40 km/hr and due to the low speed which prevented any injuries.
On August 29, 6 coaches and an engine of Nagpur-bound Duronto Express derailed near Asangaon in Maharashtra’s Thane district. On August 20, 14 coaches of the Utkal Express derailed which resulted in the death of 23 people.
Less than a week later, the Kaifiyat Express ran off the tracks in Auraiya district.
