With shows like Sex and the City inspiring us, it’s no surprise why women have a tendency in purchasing more pairs of shoes than they actually need. Same style of shoes in different colors, one to match an outfit for a special occasion… we know the deal. But are all of these shoes essential?

Every woman should own 5 basic shoe styles that can be paired with any outfit and event, during the day and night.

The everyday essential. Flats are sophisticated, can be paired with jeans or leggings and are very versatile. Flats in vibrant colors add a pop of youth to a casual outfit. They also make an outfit look sophisticated yet comfortable.

Knee-high Boots

Boots are a necessity for Fall and Winter. They are chic and comfortable and great for days where a lot of walking is necessary.

The party girl favorite. Every woman needs a pair of pumps in her shoe closet; black, nude, sparkly, patent; it doesn’t matter. Heels make an outfit sexy and sophisticated and can be easily paired with any outfit for a night out!

The subliminal way to let people know you work out. Sneakers can also be paired with jeans when you’re on the go and you’ll be comfortable without worrying about your shoe wear.

A summer must-have. Whether you’re wearing jeans, shorts or a skirt – sandals are the best alternative to add a summery feel. They are perfect for walks on the beach, especially when you feel the urge to dip in: you wont have to spend minutes fiddling with laces. If you feel like dressing up your look at night, throw on a pair of wedges and you’re summer ready!

Kitten Heels

The height these shoes provide is perfect for those days when you know and want to look feminine, yet have tired feet from wearing sky-high heels all week.

 Booties, Ankle Boots or Shoe/Boots

The shoe that I have fallen in love with recently has been the bootie. In black or nude (and I’m sure so many other options), this is a fun alternative for the fall and winter when you want to cover more of your foot, but have the feel of a fabulous heel.
