Unexpectedly, the eagerly awaited movie Adipurush will have its American premiere the day before it will be released in India. Many people are shocked by this unexpected action taken by non-Telugu distributors. Usually, such decisions are made as a film’s run is approaching to a close, but in this instance, the distributors have taken the audacious step of enabling AMC Stubs A-List, which provides subscribers with access to up to three films, for a big Telugu star film immediately following its premieres.
When facing the weight of up-front fees and interest for major star films, Telugu distributors typically save these offers for the later stages of a film’s run. However, this unusual action has been taken by Viva Entertainments in collaboration with AA Films, the North American distributor of Adipurush.
The epic Ramayana-inspired movie is directed by Om Raut, stars Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti
Sanon, Sunny Singh, and Devdutt Nage in the key parts, it is set to release on 16 June.
By Wednesday morning, Adipurush had sold tickets for $490,000 (or roughly 4.10 crore rupees) just in the US. Pre-sales in Australia have reached Aus $150,000 (about 83 lakh), while those in the UK are at £55,000 (around 50 lakh). The movie has sold tickets totaling $30,000 (25 lakh) even in Canada. With combined sales of more than 40 lakh across Europe and South-East Asia, it has also demonstrated promising results in these regions.
According to experts, the numbers would easily exceed 10 crore and could possibly increase if the hype persists. The US premiere alone is predicted to make over $1 million (about 8 crore) at the box office, which will greatly add to the movie’s financial success.
