In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the festival was launched on January 7. Every year, the International Kite Festival is organized in Gujarat on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. This time the festival will run till 14 January.

The special thing is that tourists from all over the country and abroad come to participate in this kite festival. Apart from this, guests from other states of India also participate in this special ceremony. Apart from Ahmedabad, other cities of Gujarat such as Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot also get a glimpse of this festival.

The first international kite festival was held in Gujarat in 1989. On the occasion of Uttarayan, when there is a change in the weather, the winter decreases and the heat starts to fire. At such a time, the main purpose of organizing the kite festival is to share happiness among the people.

This year is the 30th year of the kite festival. The main attraction of this kite festival is the millions of beautiful kites appearing in different shapes, sizes, and colors. Its special thing is that apart from, kite flying experts from all over the world take part. There is also a competition for the best kites. In this kite festival, kites from all over the world not only show their kite skills but also fly different types of kites.

Gujarat Tourism supports this festival and the main event of this festival takes place on the Sabarmati River Front in Ahmedabad.
