He was playing the role of Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish in the popular HBO fantasy drama Game of Thrones. According to the sources, he joined the cast of the show Peaky Blinders for its season 4.
Peaky Blinders is also one of the popular show acclaimed BBC 2 period gangster epic. However, the makers of the show have denied revealing the star cast and their roles for the season 4. So there are no details yet on the role of Gillen.
Well, apart from the Game of Thrones and the Peaky Blinders, he also appeared in the shows like The Wire, The Dark Knight Rises and The Maze Runner. The shooting of the show has already started in Liverpool with Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Thomas Shelby who is the head of Peaky Blinders.
But why Aidan Gillen has suddenly left the show? This is the debate of the hour. Speculations are he was not happy with his role in the show. He also talked about this to the maker of the show and when they ignored his plea he signed the other show offered to him i.e Peaky Blinders.
Talking about Peaky Blinders, Tom Hardy will also return as Jewish gang leader Alfie Solomons, as well as Charlotte Riley, a champion horse trainer and Shelby’s former lover who has last appeared in Season 2. Along with Aidan Gillen, Steve Knight, the creator of the show has also cast The Pianist actor Adrien Brody and Charlie Murphy in the show.
