Amazon India has got permission to sell Liquors through online delivery in Westbengal. This permission has been given by the West Bengal State Beverages Corporation.
E-commerce website Amazon India has got permission for home delivery of alcohol. And therefore you no longer need to go to the store to get alcohol. And can get home delivery of alcohol by ordering at home. However, this permission has been given in West Bengal so far, by the West Bengal State Beverages Corporation.
Let us tell you that liquor shops were closed in the initial stages of the nationwide lockdown, which came into force from March 25 to prevent spreading infection with the coronavirus. This led to a major loss in revenue from the sale of liquor to the state governments. As of result, some states took the decision to open liquor shops during the lockdown. But it saw huge crowds of customers outside liquor shops and in many places the rules of physical distance were broken. Since then, the demand for home delivery of liquor had gained momentum.
According to a Reuters report, on Friday, the West Bengal State Beverages Corporation, the authorized agency for the online retail trade of liquor in West Bengal, said in a notice that Amazon and BigBasket were in the list of the companies that were found to be eligible for registration with authorities. However, Amazon and Big Basket have not yet commented on this.
Let us tell you that, This is for the first time in India when an e-commerce company will be getting into the business of liquor delivery. Earlier, Amazon has expanded its e-commerce operations in India for online shopping for everything from groceries to electronics.
