The filmmaker who has worked with Amitabh Bachchan in several films, recently took to his official social media handle to share a 34-year-old magazine of Amitabh Bachchan as a ‘finished’ actor.
Ram Gopal praised the veteran actor’s long and successful Bollywood career while criticizing a now-closed media publication for their past negative remarks about Amitabh Bachchan. He shared a 1990 magazine cover on his X (formerly Twitter) account and penned a strong note. “34 years back ILLUSTRATED WEEKLY magazine STATED this on its COVER and now ILLUSTRATED WEEKLY is FINISHED and @SrBachchan is SOARING.” On the magazine cover of Illustrated Weekly, the Baghban actor is seen leaning against a wall in a beige outfit with the words “FINISHED!” stamped across it in red and black.
Amitabh Bachchan became quite popular during the 1970s for playing intense and strong characters in movies like Sholay, Deewar, Zanjeer, and Amar Akbar Anthony. Back then, he was known as the “Angry Young Man” of Bollywood. But during the 1980s and 1990s, he struggled to find success in the Hindi film industry. However, things changed for him in 2000. He made a strong comeback when he started hosting the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. And also starred in the movie Mohabbatein, produced by Yash Raj Films.
Recently, Amitabh did marvelous work in the movie Kalki 2898 AD. The film became a massive hit earning huge profits. It is a science fiction film based on mythology, where he played the role of Ashwatthama. His upcoming projects are Section 84 and the official remake of the popular Hollywood movie The Intern.
