Two dead corpses were spotted by security personnel around the operation site on the fourth day in a row of the operation in the Gadole woods in the Kokernag region of the Anantnag District, a top police source revealed to WION. A J&K Police source said that one body belongs to a slain terrorist and another is that of an Indian army soldier who died yesterday but whose body has not yet been found because of the intense terrorist fire.
The insider w said that two terrorists are still alive and are reportedly opening fire on the local security personnel. Most certainly, the operation will resume on Sunday as well.
After stopping for the night, the security personnel picked up the operation on Saturday. It has been more than 80 hours since the operation began on the fourth day of the encounter.
The cordon has at least two to three terrorists surrounded, including Uzair Khan of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. According to the Indian Army, the operation is being carried out with the use of drones and other cutting-edge technology by the Army and police.
Six natural caves that were possibly utilised by terrorists as hideouts in the surrounding woods were also demolished by security personnel. Two terrorist hideouts were destroyed, and the contents of those hideouts were recovered. From these hiding places, security forces retrieved one AK-47 gun, ammo, food, and utensils.
“Op Khanda, Uri A Joint operation was launched this morning in the Uri Sector. Contact was established & firefight ensued. 03xTerrorists eliminated. 02xAK Rifles, 01xPistol, 07xHand Grenades, 01xIED and other war-like stores along with Pak Currency Notes recovered. Joint operation over,” averred the Indian Army.
While the operation in Baramulla was suspended, the one in Kokernag, Anantnag, is still going on.
