“Come, Anil. Heroes always cry and friends cry. Come,” Anupam affirmed him, by asking to join him on the stage sking him to come on stage. As he saw Anil cry, he said, “Anil tu paagal hai. Main theek thaak jaara tha (Anil you are mad. I was doing so well).”
A musical evening with storytelling was part of the memorial service to honour Satish Kaushik’s remarkable life. At the occasion, Anupam Kher spoke about his initial impressions of a buddy and later meeting him in Mumbai. He also discussed his relationship with the actor and how well they got along during their 48 years of dating.
In conversation with ANI, Anupam Kher averred, “Rather than mourning about someone’s death, we should celebrate their life. About 11 years ago, my father passed away and my parents were married for 59 years, then I planned to celebrate my father’ life, so that my mother can spend rest of her life happily. That way this ritual started. Satish and I have been friends for almost 48 years and will continue to be.”
After experiencing a sudden heart attack in New Delhi on March 8, Satish Kaushik passed away.
His passing was originally announced by Anupam Kher on social media. Anupam tweeted the information in Hindi: “Death is the ultimate truth of this world!” But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend #SatishKaushik while alive. Such a sudden full stop on a friendship of 45 years!! Life will NEVER be the same without you SATISH! Om Shanti!”
