Social activist Anna Hazare wrote a hard-hitting letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which he slammed his government for its delay in appointing a Lokpal and threatened PM Modi to launch another round of agitation in the New Delhi.
According to the India Today, Anna wrote: “It has been six years of a historical movement that aimed at creating a corruption-free India. But even after six years, the government has not drafted a definitive law to end corruption.”
“For three years now, I kept reminding your government on the appointment of Lokpal and Lokayukts as well as on the welfare of farmers, but you neither replied to my letters nor took any action.”
The 80-year-old activist’s letter demanded that government should appoint a Lokpal at the center and a Lokayukta in every state.
Anna further added that the Lokayuktas have not been appointed in the states where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in power. It’s difficult to admit that BJP’s governments are not following PM Modi’s orders if such instructions had issued.
