January has proven to be a fascinating month in terms of South Indian film releases. Ayalaan and Captain Miller had a great Sankranti, but it was the off-scheduled HanuMan that stunned India and put the Mahesh Babu-driven Guntur Kaaram in serious competition.Having said that, let’s see what South Indian movie buffs might expect in February. The sequence in which these movies are listed will be based on when they were released.
1. Ambajipeta Marriage Band- February 2
In the Telugu movie Ambajipeta Marriage Band, Suhas and Shivani play the main parts. The film is set against the backdrop of a village and tells the story of actual events in the life of director Dushyanth Katikaneni. In the movie Care of Kancharapalem, Dushyanth assisted Venkatesh Maha as an assistant director.
2. Yatra 2- February 8
Yatra 2, a follow-up to the 2019 smash blockbuster movie Yatra, is based on the life of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Jiiva plays Jagan, while Mammootty plays the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. The movie is scheduled to come out just as Andhra Pradesh’s election campaign is getting underway.
3. Lal Salaam- February 9
In the Tamil-language sports drama Lal Salaam, Vikranth and Vishnu Vishal play the key characters, while Rajinikanth makes a lengthy cameo as Moideen Bhai. Aishwarya Rajinikanth is the director and writer of Lal Salaam. On February 9th, Lal Salaam will be presented in theaters.
4. Eagle- February 9
The lead actors in the Telugu action thriller Eagle are Anupama Parameswaran, Kavya Thapar, and Ravi Teja. The film, which stars Ravi Teja in a brand-new avatar and is directed by Karthik Gattamneni, promises to be an intense action thriller.
5. Anweshippin Kandethum- February 9
Tovino Thomas plays an investigating officer in the Malayalam mystery film Anweshippin Kandethum. Veteran performers Siddique, Indrans, and Vijayakumar are also featured in the movie.
6. Ooru Peru Bhairavakona- February 9
The Telugu language fantasy adventure/thriller Ooru Peru Bhairavakona was directed by Vi Anand. Varsha Bollamma and Sundeep Kishan play the main parts in the movie. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on February 9th, but Eagle’s producers are meeting with the Telugu Film Chamber to make sure Eagle gets a solo release on that day.
7. Bramayugam- February 15
In the Malayalam horror-thriller Bramayugam, Mammootty plays an incredibly menacing avatar. Rahul Sadasivan, the director of the terrifying 2022 film Bhoothakaalam, is directing this movie.
8. Operation Valentine on February 16
Operation Valentine, which will display the Indian Army’s aviation prowess, will come after Fighter. In his directing debut, Shakti Pratap Singh Hada wrote and directed the Pan-Indian film Operation Valentine, which stars Varun Tej and Manushi Chhillar in the key roles.
9. Siren- February 16
The main actors in the Tamil action drama Siren are Jayam Ravi, Keerthy Suresh, and Anupama Parameswaran. It tells the tale of a former ambulance driver who becomes criminal and vows to exact revenge on those who have wronged him.
10. Bhimaa- February 16
The critically renowned Kannada filmmaker Harsha, who has previously helmed movies like Vedha and Bhajrangi 2, teams up with Gopinchand for the first time on Bhimaa. The film’s soundtrack was composed by Ravi Basrur, the music director of Salaar and KGF. Gopichand appears in Bhimaa as a ferocious police avatar.
11. Yathabhava- February 2
H.G. Dattatreya, Sahana Sudhakara, and Gowtham Sudhakar will feature in the Kannada film Yathabhava. The intricacies of human emotions and interpersonal relationships are examined in the film.
