Arijit Singh from India has overtaken international superstars like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Eminem to take third place in Spotify’s artist rankings. The Chaleya singer is now only trailing Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran, according to an India Today article.
In addition, Arijit has outperformed other Spotify regulars including Drake, The Weekend, Rihanna, and Adele. This appears to be related to the sheer number of songs Arijit has produced, especially during the past eight months.
In his most recent song, Arijit once again sings a love ballad for Shah Rukh Khan. The song Chaleya, written by Kumaar and composed by Anirudh Ravichander, comes from the actor’s forthcoming movie Jawan.
Arijit previously joined Jasleen Royal in singing the independent track Heeriye. Jasleen and Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan appear in the song’s music video.
In the Pritam and Amitabh Bhattacharya album of Karan Johar’s love comedy Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Arijit also provided voice work for Ranveer Singh. He sang the timeless love ballad Tum Kya Mile, the nostalgic dancing song What Jhumka, and the depressing song Ve Kamleya.
Additionally, Arijit performed the vocals for Varun Dhawan on songs like Tumhe Kitna Pyaar Karte from Nitesh Tiwari’s love story Bawaal.
