Arnab Goswami was recently given “Y” category security from the government after the intelligence bureau perceived the threat of his life from Pakistan-based terrorist group. Senior journalist Arnab Goswami has resigned from the times group from the post of “editor-in-chief”. He was not seen on the sets of prime time from a few days.
According to some sources, he announced his resign at an editorial meeting. The reason he resigned is that he wants to start something on his own. The channel is, however, is showing the teaser of the show with the tagline “Arnab is back”. According to Business Standard, Arnab might start his own news channel with entrepreneur Rajeev Chandrashekhar and American media baron Rupert Murdosh.
Although Goswami did not declare his plans, the senior journalist said, he spoke about his “dream of an independent media”. The senior journalist said Goswami told them that he “didn’t want to get stuck in the television media” as it exists today. Goswami said that “he wants to lead” the change that the media will go through, mentioning digital journalism. “He said he doesn’t want to gather moss, he wants to be a rolling stone,” the senior journalist said adding that Goswami said he would “like to keep up with the times” which he “can’t do in his current role.”
