Article 370 featuring the talented star cast of Yami Gautam, Priya Mani is facing a ban in Gulf countries. Here’s the reason why.
Surprisingly something unexpected happened to the popular action political thriller “Article 370” featuring actress Yami Gautam. Even though ‘Article 370’ was doing well in India and abroad, with people loving it and critics praising it was banned in Gulf countries. This is the second movie this year to face such a ban in the Gulf which sounds disappointing. As it deprives audiences of experiencing an Indian cinematic offering.
‘Article 370’ has made 15.20 crore in just two days, beating many other recent movies. The film is doing well in other countries like Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the USA, and Canada, with people showing strong interest in the film. The movie doesn’t seem to promote any specific ideas or divide people. Instead, it focuses on common human experiences in a complicated political setting. It portrays the challenges, and strengths, which everyone can relate to, especially in tough times. It’s sparking conversations and dialogue is something that makes us understand each other better.
Amid this, the ban in Gulf countries is quite surprising. Particularly when many Indian movies are filmed there and the region’s tourism industry is booming. There’s a big difference between how much Bollywood movies contribute to entertainment in the Gulf and how few Indian films people can watch in theaters there. Even though people in the Gulf appreciate Indian movies. People not able to see ones like ‘Article 370’ shows a worrying trend of censorship and limited sharing of cultures. People all over the world want to see different and thought-provoking movies. It’s disappointing to see barriers getting in the way of artistic expression.
