New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was detained by the police after he tried to meet the relatives of army veteran RK Grewal, who had committed suicide allegedly over an insufficient pension and OROP implementation , was released close to midnight on Wednesday.
After his release, Mr Kejriwal said instead of being sympathetic, the government had “directed the police to beat up the family”. “Modi ji has lied to the entire country saying that OROP has been implemented,” he added.
Mr Kejriwal had been detained for nearly 5 hours at the RK Puram police station, where Delhi minister Gopal Rai was also detained. Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also detained, allegedly for over 10 hours.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who had also tried to meet the family of Subedar Grewal, had been detained twice, once for over 70 minutes in the afternoon and again in the evening. At a police station, he asked cops if they “have no shame” for having also detained the veteran’s family.
The politics on this matter is heating up after the suicide of Subedar Grewal and Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal will go to attend the funerals of Subedar at their native village.
