Cricket Australia paid tribute to the late cricketer Dean Jones at the historic Cricket Ground in Melbourne on the first day of the Boxing Day Test match between India and Australia on Saturday.

He was recalled to put his bat and baggy greencap on the pitch in the presence of Jones’ wife Jane Jones and his family before the match began.

Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones died in Mumbai on September, where he was present for the Star Sports program ‘Dugout’ associated with the 13th season of the Indian Premier League. However, in a statement to the Sydney Morning Herald, Jane Jones stated that Dean’s death was not a heart attack but a stroke.

The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Jane as saying, “The matter is currently under investigation by a coroner. It is not that he is going to get anything else but for the type of stroke he suffered, he was too young. ”

Earlier, Dean’s body was given a Farewell lap on the ground in Melbourne, as it is his favorite ground.
