Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev is planning to launch a fast food chain to cut down the revenues of KFC, McDonald’s and Subway. Ramdev has given an interview to The Times Of India, in which he said: “We will not divide our menu into North Indian and South Indian. We will give people choice because there is nothing tastier and healthier than vegetarian Indian food.”
He further added: “I have traveled to many countries and vegetarianism is catching on like wildfire. People stand in queues to get access to vegetarian food. We will become the largest home-grown FMCG player in the next one year.”
Patanjali Ayurved Limited, Haridwar-based FMCG company, has recorded a turnover of Rs 10,561 crore in 2016-17. The company manufactures 444 products including 45 types of cosmetic products and 30 types of food products. According to Patanjali, all the products manufactured by Patanjali are made from Ayurveda and natural components.
Company’s MD and CEO, Acharya Balkrishna, also said that the Patanjali, in future will also enter textiles industry (jeans and sportswear) to compete with the brands like Nike, Levis and Adidas.
