In 2009, Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the Former United States President Barack Obama, but in 2016 he dropped a total of 26,171 bombs in 7 countries in which 90% of the people died were civilians. The U.S. dropped an average of three bombs an hour. It was a bloody end to Obama’s reign. No wars have been won and the Middle East have been swallowed by more hue and cry.

Obama so called war on terror

Obama’s administration is known to have ordered airstrikes in 7 countries-:

Afganistan(2001-present day)

The first country America invaded was Afganistan. Like his predecessor, Obama has ordered airstrikes against militant targets in the country.  As of 2015 (from 2001), tens of thousands of people have been killed in the war (20,000 people were civilians, 15,000 members of the Afghan national security, 4,000 ISAF soldiers and civilian contractors, 2,200 American troops).

Libya(2011-present day)

US President Barack Obama stated on 11 April 2016 that the “worst mistake” of his presidency was not preparing for a post-Gaddafi Libya. The ongoing crisis in Libya has so far resulted in tens of thousands of casualties.

Yemen(2002-present day)

According to the estimates from the New America Foundation, nearly 100 attacks have occurred since 2009, following the death of militants as well as the civilians. From six air strikes that were carried out from 2009-2013, out of 82 people, 57 were civilians.

Iraq(2003-present day)

The first airstrikes on Iraq would take place on March 20, 2003. An article was published by AFP in October 2013 which proved that US bombing was disastrous for the civilians. Approximately 125,000 civilians died in the war. And the current ongoing Mosul operation is also proving catastrophic.

Syria(2011-present day)

In 2013, Obama ordered airstrikes in the region mainly to dethrone current president Bashar Al-Assad and the real (not official) death toll of civilians from America’s bombing is unknown.

Pakistan(2004-present day)

According to The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, a website, till 2014 there have been around 390 airstrikes, of which 339 have been conducted since Obama came to power. This all has led to 4,000 deaths, out of which one-quarter have been civilians.

Somalia(2007-present day)

In September 2014,  Somali jihadists in the group Al-Shabaab (links to Al-Qaeda) confirmed that their leader has been killed by the US airstrikes.
