Bengaluru: Mass Molestation of Women on New Year’s Eve, Home Minister Said “It Happens On Such Occasions!”

When the whole world was busy in welcoming the new year, here in Bengaluru a mishap took place which was not supposed to happen. On the famous M.G and Brigade road of Bengaluru, women were molested massly by drunk and unruly men on the streets. The saddest part of this dejected incident is, it took place in the presence of 1600 policemen. Shame!

According to the reports, no official report had lodged against this incident till the Monday evening. But the matter took its wings far away when Karnataka’s home minister G. Parmeshawar released a bizarre statement saying, “It happens on such occasions”. Well! people are not happy with his statement, they want justice. 

Whereas, Union Home Minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted today,

“I condemn d irresponsible comment made by Karnataka Home Minister.” He further added, “We can’t allow such shameful act of #MassMolestation go unpunished. Bangaluru is a vibrant city & women must be safe in a civilised society.”

The incident took place when men groped and verbally abused women revellers even as policemen were present in huge numbers. But most of them stayed mute spectators and barely intervened. Some women had to take off their heels and run from the spot.
