World is getting competitive to make the longest skyscrapers. Now one of the architecture firms of New York is taking a different approach, proposing a U-shaped tower that aims to be the longest tower in the world.
The company named OIIO Studio claims that this U-shaped Big Bend skyscraper will be the world’s longest building. It will be named as The Big Bend. Designs for the “Big Bend” show a 4,000 ft long, arched skyscraper that would tower over Manhattan’s Billionaires’ Row – an area named for its ultra-luxury residential high-rise buildings.
The company says, “If we manage to bend our structure instead of bending the zoning rules of New York, we would be able to create one of the most prestigious buildings in Manhattan. The longest building in the world.”
The biggest challenge:
Currently, only the design of the building has been proposed. The lift will be the biggest challenge in this building of glass as it will move in a U-shape.
These are the tallest towers of the world:
Burj Khalifa – 4000 ft
Shanghai Tower – 2,772 ft
Abraj Al Bait Tower – 2,073 ft
One World Trade Center – 1,972 ft
Taipei 101 – 1,792 ft
Shanghai World Financial Center – 1,667 ft
