China has now announced an increase in aid after Donald Trump‘s ban on giving donations to the World Health Organization (WHO). According to the news, China will donate an additional $ 30 million to WHO to combat the global pandemic.

According to China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang:
“China has decided to donate an additional 30 million dollars to the WHO. This amount will be different from the amount of 20 million dollars given earlier. The aim is to help in the global war against the coronavirus and to strengthen the health systems of developing countries.”

Trump imposed a ban on donations to WHO
President Donald Trump last week announced a temporary moratorium on US funding to the United Nations agency.

He also accused the WHO of not taking proper steps to deal with the coronavirus and to cover up the misdeeds of other countries. The US gives millions of dollars to WHO every year. A group of Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives suggested last week that Trump should not fund the agency until Tedros’ resignation.
