A 15-year-old girl was killed by a group of three motorcycle-borne men who dragged her by her scarf before driving their vehicle over her in Bihar’s Kaimur district, police said on Wednesday.
The police are yet to arrest anyone in the incident that occurred on Tuesday near Karjaon village on Hata-Durgawati main road in Kaimur district.
The Class 10 student from Fakarabad village was going to write her half-yearly examination along with three of other classmates when the incident occurred.
Sources said as one of the three men on the bike caught hold her ‘dupatta’ (long scarf) that got entangled around her neck she lost her balance and fell on the road. The motorcyclists dragged her for around 50 metres before returning to drive their bike over her, killing her on the spot.
The bikers, who lost balance and fell into a ditch, abandoned the motorcycle and fled as villagers rushed to the spot after hearing the cries of the other three girls.
Angry villagers blocked the main road with the girl’s body demanding the arrest of the killers and also tried to set the bike on fire. Police said the motorbike was registered in the name of Brijesh Gupta.
The girl’s father lodged an FIR against one Krishna Kumar Gond of Karjaon village and two of his unknown associates.
Assistant superintendent of police Jagunnath J Raddy said the accused was not at home when police reached there. Two police teams have been formed to conduct raids and nab the culprits.
