Ruby Barker, who is most known for her role as Marina in Bridgerton, recently shared a terrifying experience she had with fans on Instagram. The star posted a lengthy letter explaining how her terrible relationship ended, landing her in the hospital by the end of 2023. “Trigger warning: BTS 2023. What happens behind closed doors? Nobodies daughter or son deserves this. My father died and my mum out the picture, easy target, I guess,” she penned down.

Ruby writes in the message that she met a man in January 2023, following the death of her father. She says that what started off as his staying back to help her clean up after a party quickly became tense. She described the verbal and physical violence he would inflict on her, claiming that his family helped him cause her to experience this anguish.
“I know I joke a lot but this was not funny and ultimately nearly killed me,” she added, “I was so confused and ultimately all I wanted was my Dad back.”
Cry for help

“I spent nights on the phone to the Samaritans and the Police would call me and come by my place to see if I was okay. I didn’t want to press charges. Refuge helped me understand what the cycle of abuse was and what it looks like. He knows. I know. Now you know too,” she wrote.
Trauma and hospitalisation

Ruby said that she had been hospitalized for mental health issues in 2022, adding that she had been “unwell for a really long time.” “All this intergenerational trauma bundled up” was how she put it. After her hospital stay ended in May 2022, she advised her followers to get treatment from a professional if they needed it. After experiencing two psychotic episodes in 2019 and 2022 while filming Bridgerton, she accused Netflix and Sundland of not giving her enough support in 2023.
