A defamed calf was born with a human-like head in an animal shelter of Pachenda, Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The calf has been worshiped by the villagers who believe that it is an incarnation of Hindu God, Vishnu. Unfortunately, it died within an hour of its birth but was put on display and locals from nearby villages has gathered there to pay their respects and seek its blessing.
As shown in the video footage, the calf has been kept inside the glass box and people offering flowers and even donating as cows are considered a sacred animal in India.
According to the India Today, local businessman Mahesh Kathuria said: “God has taken birth from the body of a local cow. We came here to seek his blessings. Religiously, it is an avatar of Vishnu. We believe it’s a similar character mentioned in Bhagavata Puran, a Hindu religious text.”
However, Dr Ajay Deshmukh, a senior veterinary doctor at Wildlife SOS in India, said: “It is a case of an anatomical anomaly. Sometimes, some organs of the body are not fully developed in the womb due to which they are born with a strange appearance or face. People are linking this deformity with the superstition, which is not true, its all about structural deformities.”
