We often hear from actresses that as soon as they are forty / fifty, they manage to get hold of fewer major film roles, or are even completely forgotten. Best known for the Matrix trilogy, Carrie-Anne Moss now shares a similar story.
During a recent interview, the actress announced that she was offered the role of a grandmother shortly after her 40th birthday. She says the following about this: “ I was always told that everything changes after the age of 40, but I never believed that. Until then … ”.
Difficult
53-year-old Moss is now sharing this story, promoting a book on how society treats women as they age: ” Literally one day after my 40th birthday, I was talking to my manager about a script and it turned out that I was not offered the role I had in mind but that of a grandmother. ”
” Overnight I had gone from a girl to a mother and into a grandmother .” The actress had a hard time with this, partly because male actors are not treated like that.
Still, if all goes well, Moss will be featured in The Matrix 4 in December . She will most likely play anything but an old lady in this.
