According to the latest news, the Punjab government issued an excise policy, and it also set provision for online liquor delivery. When there was the provision, demand also started in Chandigarh. However, this is not decided yet in Chandigarh whether it would be right to implement such a system or not. But if we believe the sources, Chandigarh is surely planning that if this system is going to be implement in Mohali. Then there is no problem in implementing it in Chandigarh.
Commissioner Excise and Taxation cum DC Mandeep Singh Brar held a meeting with liquor traders on Monday. They demanded that permission to start home delivery of Indian Made Foreign Liquor in Chandigarh on the lines of Punjab.
However, the Government will decide this after discussion with senior officers. In Punjab, this provision is currently under dispute. It states that if any liquor businessman opposes the decision of home delivery, then it will not be implemented.
During the meeting, the officers told the liquor traders, restaurants, discotheques and night club owners that the process of obtaining the license for the liquor has been made online. Now they are demanding the administration for the labeling to process online. On the other hand, there is also a demand by the traders not to increase the X-Disillatory price.
