English actor Charlie Hunnam is tied up in promoting his latest web series Shantaram which is to be released on Apple TV Plus. The series has been shot in Australia and largely covered at locations in Mumbai. Charlie spoke in an recent interview that how he fell in love with the beauty and warmth of India.
Th film will also feature Richard Roxburgh, Radhika Apte and Alexander Siddig in leading roles roles. A huge chunk of the series was shot in Mumbai where Hunnam plays a bank robber. In an recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Hunnam expressed the behind story of how this series came to life and what made him fall for India. During his tour to Thailand, he was introduced to the book by his producer Eric Singer. Thereafter, it was no looking back.
The actor mentioned that, “I was in Thailand when this book was thrust upon me by my friend and producer Eric Singer. So I didn’t get to see much of Thailand, but I fell in love with India. I read the book and fell madly in love with it, and then began the steep uphill climb of attaining the rights of the book.” The actor further added, “It feels very alive and fresh to me, contemporary to me.”
The thriller film is based on a book authored by Gregory David Roberts. The web series will be broadcasted in twelve distinct episodes, three of which will reportedly be launched on October 14 on Apple TV platform.
