Vishnu Deo Sai, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, added nine additional ministers to his state government on Friday. Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan gave the oath to Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs Brijmohan Agrawal, Ramvichar Netam, Dayaldas Baghel, Kedar Kashyap, Lakhanlal Dewangan, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, OP Choudhary, Tank Ram Verma, and Laxmi Rajwade.
This raises the Sai-led cabinet’s strength to twelve. The chief minister Sai, together with deputy chief ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, made up the cabinet prior to this. On December 13, they were sworn in.
The chief minister of Chhattisgarh is one of a maximum of thirteen ministers.
“Very soon portfolios will be allotted. One more cabinet berth will be filled later,” Sai mentioned in conversation with the reporters.
Vijay Sharma and Brijmohan Agrawal are from the general category, Sai, Ramvichar Netam, and Kedar Kashyap are from the Scheduled Tribes, and Dayaldas Baghel is from the Scheduled Caste. The only other female member of the cabinet is Rajwade.
While CM Sai was a Union minister during the first term of the Narendra Modi government at the center, Agrawal, Netam, Kashyap, and Baghel held ministerial positions in prior BJP governments in the state.
“As mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and even myself during the election campaigning, the first task of our government will be to provide 18 lakh houses to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana,” Sai mentioned during the meeting chaired last week.
