At a nursery school in Brazil, four children and a teacher were burned alive by the security guard after being sprayed by alcohol. 25 people mostly children aged between four and five were hospitalised with burn injuries.
Commander of Military Police, Lieutenant Colonel John Aparecido Nascimento said:
“We believe a security guard at the nursery set himself on fire and set fire to children in the kindergarten.”
According to the reports, there were about 80 children present in the school when the attack occurred. Nelson de Jesus Silva, the father of one victim, told Globonews TV: “My little girl was so good, so smart.”
Mother of another girl victim said:
“I was thinking of changing nursery schools because we are preparing to move. I woke him up early to bring him here and when I saw him again he was dead in the hospital.”
On the other hand, Mayor Carlos Isaildon Mendes said:
“This could have been worse because the babies’ room was in the hall next door. Evacuation would have been more difficult. As the children were bigger a lot of them were able to escape.”
