Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has grown the highest-grossing IMAX film for Hollywood in India and has entered the 100 crore club in the Indian market. On July 21, J. Robert Oppenheimer’s biopic was made public.
At the Indian box office, the movie had earned 97 crore rupees as of August 2. However, according to a press announcement from the Universal Pictures production company, Oppenheimer grossed more than 3 crore on August 3. As a result, it has amassed more than 100 crore in total revenue in India.

On July 21, Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie adaption, featuring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie, were both released. Together with Barbie, the film directed by Christopher Nolan earned 100 crore at the Indian box office in its first week. In the first week, Oppenheimer earned 73.20 crore alone.
A portion of Indian viewers are criticising a specific scenario. Cillian Murphy’s J Robert Oppenheimer is seen having sex with Florence Pugh’s Jean Tatlock as she requests that he read a passage from what looks to be a Sanskrit book that begins, “Now, I am become Death, destroyer of the world.”

Anurag Thakur, the minister of information and broadcasting, has reportedly taken a harsh stance on the contentious scenario, according to ANI sources. In response to the offensive sequence, the minister has sought complete transparency from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Shobhaa De tweeted on Wednesday, “#OppenheimerMovie left me speechless .Brilliant sounds hollow. Oh, about the controversy around the sex scene and the Bhagvad Gita… errrr….so many 5-Star hotels place The Gita and Bible in every room. Next to the bed, where countless couples copulate. Nobody objects @ianuragthakur.”
