In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the cinema hals are set to reopen on Thursday in Mumbai and the rest of Maharashtra, months after the closure. This includes regular movie halls, theaters and multiplexes that will be outside the containment zone. However, they will only be allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity under current conditions. Apart from this, no food will be allowed.
Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, Sanjay Kumar said, “The SOP for this will be issued by the Department of Cultural Affairs and local authorities.”
The central government on October 14 allowed multiplexes, cinema halls and theaters to reopen with strict standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Ministry of Home Affairs had given an exemption to the states to take a final decision on the matter based on specific conditions.
