A student of Class XI committed suicide in residential girls’ school in Karnal. The victim was allegedly harassed by two sisters of the same institute, forcing a lesbian relationship.
On Sunday, police booked the siblings under Section 306 of the IPC for abetting the suicide.
The girl was found hanging from the ceiling inside her hostel room, on Friday. The 16-year-old girl was sharing the hostel with her elder sister, a second-year BA student at the same campus. The victim was allegedly being pressured by two sisters from the same institute to get into a lesbian relationship. The accused sisters belong to a village in Panipat, being students of Class XI and BA second year.
ASI Lakhbir Singh of Balla Police post, stated the victim’s sister in her statement that the girl was under pressure from the two sisters for having homosexual relations with them.
However, the institute authorities denied receiving any complaint in this matter. Family members of the victim alleged that they had informed the staff and management about the harassment.
