Comedian Samay Raina removed every video from his program India’s Got Latent on Wednesday due to overwhelming controversy surrounding the show. He emphasized that the growing controversy about the show became too burdensome for him since his goal remained to produce laughter for his viewers rather than engage in such disputes. An uproar emerged when he released his statements about parents and sex through social media. Several members of the public called for harsh punishment to be imposed upon him. The Maharashtra Cyber Department intervened in response to the situation which led Samay Raina to receive a summons for questioning.

Samay Raina’s statement
Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Samay Raina wrote: “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”Meanwhile, Ranveer Allahbadia, who has over 16 million followers on social media, tried to calm things down by posting a video apology. He admitted that his comments were inappropriate, calling them a “lapse in judgment.” He also said that comedy is not his strong suit, which suggests that he might not have realized how his words would be received.
The controversy has sparked a wider debate about freedom of speech and what is considered appropriate content for public platforms. Where some said jokes should not be taken seriously others said there should be some restrictions when it comes to spreading these types of content. Currently, the cyber police are treating this matter. The officials from Cyber Police registered an FIR against the show based on Information Technology regulations and have issued notices to several people involved in the show, including guests and judges from previous episodes. On Tuesday, they also instructed the producers to remove all 18 episodes of India’s Got Latent from social media.
According to the police the participants of the show used offensive language throughout all earlier shows. Agents are examining available content to establish if new legal steps should be initiated. This situation highlights the increasing scrutiny of online content sketching boundaries between humorous and offensive statements. It remains to be seen what consequences this controversy will have for those involved.
