Prime Minister Narendra Modi did an Ariel Survey after the cyclone Amphan hit west Bengal.
This year is proved to bring havoc for everyone. At first, the coronavirus pandemic was experienced by everyone and badly affected everything globally. And now another havoc came up, while we are still struggling to cope up with the epidemic. Yes, we are talking about Cyclone Amphan that left behind Trail Of destruction.
The cyclone left behind widespread devastation, damaging power, and telecom infrastructure in several coastal districts. It is being told that this cyclone was one of the fiercest cyclones that happened in 283 years. The cyclone continued for more than four hours on Wednesday which resulted in uprooting trees, knocking down electricity poles, damaging buildings, killing 80 people and affected around 44.8 lakh people in the state.
After this devastating thing came into the headlines. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kolkata Airport. Soon after Modi reached he was welcomed by West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee. After reaching PM Modi conducted an aerial survey of the storm-affected areas there. He was also accompanied by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and few others in the survey. Not only this but also, there are reports that PM Modi will visit Odisha after the Bengal tour.
However Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Ms Banerjee and given assurances of help.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee thanked President Ram Nath Kovind and said that I sincerely thank President Ram Nath Kovind Ji for his support for the people of Bengal in this unprecedented time of crisis due to the Amphan cyclone. We are extremely grateful.
